Mi Querida Familia de Nuestra Señora de Lourdes,
¡Feliz Día de la Madre!
Espero que nuestras madres pasen hoy un día maravilloso y
puedan sentir lo mucho que las queremos y lo agradecidos
que estamos a Dios por tenerlas. Como seguro que me
han oído decir alguna vez, creo que el amor incondicional
que recibimos de nuestros padres es lo más parecido
que tenemos aquí en la tierra al amor que Dios nos tiene.
Nuestras madres nos muestran a nosotros y a nuestro
mundo una forma de vivir, una forma de amar, que
transforma tanto a los que son amados como a los que
aman. Las necesitamos. Nuestro mundo las necesita.
Sería un gran honor para nuestras madres que siguiéramos su ejemplo y amáramos a los demás tal y como ellas nos han amado, es decir, por el bien de los demás y no por lo que puedan hacer por nosotros. El conflicto y la tensión que nos rodean se transformarían en un ambiente de seguridad y alegre expectación. Daríamos a los demás la libertad de creer que lo que esperan es posible y de confiar en que no están solos en este mundo. Y eso lo cambiaría todo.
El fin de semana del Día de la Madre es también el fin de semana de las ordenaciones en la Arquidiócesis de Miami. El sábado, el arzobispo ordenará a nueve nuevos sacerdotes para que nos sirvan aquí en Miami. Tengámoslos presentes en nuestras oraciones ahora que se incorporan al presbiterio de la Arquidiócesis de Miami y comienzan su ministerio entre nosotros.
Hoy, sin embargo, centrémonos en nuestras madres.
