My Dear Family of Our Lady of Lourdes,

Our focus ministry this weekend is our festival raffle and sponsorship committee. We have had to move the dates of the festival forward this year to January 28th to the 31st in order to accommodate Modern Midways. So, I suppose we will just have to start celebrating the Feast of Our Lady of Lourdes early and keep on celebrating! The move has the benefit of not putting Sunday night at the festival in competition with the Super Bowl. It does mean, however, that we have one less week between Epiphany and the Festival and we will have to begin the organization and preparation for the festival early.

Fr. Fredy is the Chairman of the Festival again this year and as you know he is already up and running. The family sponsorship is an idea that he brought forward, and it is being very well received. I encourage each parish family to join in the fun and become a family sponsor. Last year’s festival was so successful that the interest in sponsorships among our local businesses is strong.

Which brings us to the raffle. The prizes are $10,000; $3,000; and $1,000 at the Festival. There is a new promotion for the Early Bird Drawing on Thanksgiving Day. The prize is being increased to $1500. Remember that the Early Bird winner has his or her ticket put back into the tumbler and can still win the prizes at the festival.

Having just celebrated the Solemnity of the Assumption with our Healing Mass and Procession and the Geste de l’Eau, we know what a blessing it is to be sons and daughters of Our Lady of Lourdes. Let us prepare to celebrate that gift again this year in a very big way.
