My Dear Family of Our Lady of Lourdes,

Happy Father’s Day!
I hope that everyone has a wonderful weekend planned to thank and celebrate our fathers. Let us also pray for and celebrate anew our fathers who have already been called home to the Lord. The self-sacrificing love that we receive from our fathers gives us strength and calls us to life. Sharing life with our fathers prepares us to follow their example and give of ourselves in love so that others might know love and find life.

And so, we at Our Lady of Lourdes congratulate our fathers and offer them something of ourselves as a gift. We offer all our fathers support and camaraderie. The Apostles themselves were sent out not alone but two by two. In our Knights of Columbus, the men of Our Lady of Lourdes can find companions with whom to share the journey and work of Christian fatherhood.

And if you are in a place where you could use a little “jump start” or “refresh” before joining such a group we have a gift for you as well. The men of Emmaus have retreats throughout the year, serving so that their brothers might have some time apart to encounter Christ and be refreshed and renewed as Christian men.

Taken together this is our gift as a parish to our fathers, really to all the men of Our Lady of Lourdes. We look to offer them regular and attentive solicitude that they might find refreshment in a life lived  not with all the many aspects of life in competition  but with them all integrated into one loving response to God..
