Hijos de la Madre de Dios
It is the style that gives identity. The Christ who IS is because God IS. If the Christian is Christian, it is because he is like Christ; otherwise he is not Christian.
You can be a false Christian or pseudo-Christian; but you are not Christian if you do not act like Christ.
"Men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another as I have loved you." (John 15, 34)
Hijos de la Madre de Dios‖ meet on the last Monday of the month in the St. Bernadette Hall at 7:30 pm beginning with the Rosary in the Parish Hall. Join us to live the lifestyle of Jesus Christ.

Namaste India: A Forum for the prevention of the killing of female babies
Welcome to Fr. Johnny
Fr. Johnny D’Cruz is a Catholic priest from India. He is coming to speak on behalf of Amruthavani Commu-nication Centre, India. Amruthavani is a regional organization under the aegis of Andhra Pradesh Bishop’s Council comprising of 13 dioceses with over 2 million catholic population, promoting evangelization through more new and modern forms of media.
Though India is a growing economy, most of the nation is still rooted in social evils, such as inequality and gender bias. Do you know there are only 906 female babies for every 1000 male babies? The reason for such a disparity is the practice of killing of female babies. It is shocking to know around 3 million girls do not reach their 15th birthday. There is serious need for a forum for women to share their grievances and express their right to life.
Namaste India, a half hour interactive talk show, once a week on a main stream media channel, will focus on bringing social justice by showing cases of the killing of female fetuses and infants in the country and promote the right to life for female children who are also made in the image of God. The main aim is to invite callers to air their grievances in a public forum and be heard. The program will outline specific instances and will condemn and lend a voice against it. The program will show uplifting sto-ries of women who have broken barriers and the stereotypes created by society and media which will be a shot in the arm; and will inspire more women to earn their rightful place in society.
Fr. Johnny D’Cruz will speak at all the masses on August 16th-17th weekend.
The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (R.C.I.A.)
OLOL Christian Formation classes are not only for children but for those adults who wish to become fully initiated into the Catholic faith by receiving all their Sacraments. (Registrations going on now at Christian Formation office)
The modern Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (R.C.I.A.) is modeled after the early Church’s practices of welcoming people into the church, preparing them for life as a Christian, and celebrating the sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation, and first Eucharist. The rite applies to adults and older children who are considering becoming Catholic. It outlines a series of stages of faith development and celebrations as a person progresses in his or her commitment to Discipleship in the Roman Catholic Church. The joyful celebration of the Lord’s Resurrection at the Easter Vigil is the time when those who have prepared well are welcomed into the Church and the Easter Sacraments (Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist) are celebrated with the whole community present.
The stages of the R.C.I.A. are: Pre-catechumenate, Catechumenate, Purification and Enlightenment, and Mystagogy. Each of these stages has a unique character that is marked by a deepening love of Christ and an increasing understanding of, and commitment to life as a disciple of Christ. These terms are familiar to some and may sound strange to others. That is OK. Over the next several weeks, we will explore the R.C.I.A. and look at each of these stages as we begin a new cycle of celebration, growth in faith, and welcome.
